Wear Where Veer

Past the first 3 years of my life on this planet, as a girl child, my parents’ concern became what their lovely girl would WEAR. Now, into the third decade of my existence, I still get to hear from the closest of well-wishers, dress appropriately, so that no one gives you a second glance.

Right from the first moment my dad got to hold the tiny me in his arms, till now, even with my husband around, he is concerned WHERE his precious daughter is.

Fortunately or not, it has been my sole prerogative to VEER from all the concerns, from all the love, from all the safety, to challenge myself, my support systems, the beliefs, edifices and principles that I was raised upon. It is because, I seriously believe that my culture, race, caste, socio-economic status, etc., should not directly influence the intellect, physical or emotional strengths, opportunities, fashion sense, sexual liberty, hobbies or vocation, dreams or passions. My honour, my freedom, my rights, these are mine, it is not for anyone else to decide or manipulate, not even my parents, my partner(s), my children, my guides, or any random person.

I WEAR my freedom

I am WHERE my honour is

I VEER to protect my rights

Environment, Society, Rebellion, Music and Adventure are keywords playing in my mind from as long as I remember. A default introvert and an obsessive extrovert, I have strong beliefs and I stand for them. Currently as a Fellow in State Bank of India's Rural Development Fellowship called Youth for India, I plan to share my journey to all.
